Overview

In January, 2015, Environmental Health Inc. expanded its' business to include a BioSciences Group dedicated to supporting a Life Sciences client base.

ABOUT BIOSCIENCES GROUP

Michele Pitoniak Crawford, MPH, CHMM is the director of the BioSciences Group for Environmental Health Inc. (EHI), specializing in all aspects of environmental and occupational health and safety program evaluation, development, and management for clients in the life sciences and university research sectors. She comes with over 20 years of experience providing technical support and training in hazardous waste program evaluation and management, laboratory safety, transportation of hazardous materials (biological, radioactive, and chemical), radiation program management, bio-safety (including rDNA and BBP), wastewater permitting, hazard assessments, indoor air quality, respiratory protection training and fit testing, and an extensive knowledge of OSHA compliance procedures. 


Experienced. knowledgeable. diverse.

Michele is approved by the MDPH as Consultant Radiation Safety Officer (RSO). Her credentials include 40 hour Radiation Safety Officer certification and DOT Radioactive Materials Shipping training.

As an active member of multiple Institutional Biosafety Committees and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees, she has assisted a number of companies with their AAALAC Accreditation programs. She serves as the Environmental Health and Safety Director for Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives (MBI) in Worcester. Prior to her consultant roles with Around the Clock Compliance, Inc. (ATCC) and EHI, Michele's work experience included managing environmental health and safety programs for Boston College and Tufts University.

Ms. Crawford holds a BA in Biological Sciences from Smith College and an MPH in Environmental Health from Boston University School of Public Health. Her professional Registrations include Massachusetts Registered Sanitarian, Massachusetts Certified Health Officer, and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager. She hold professional membership with NEAIHA, NEACHMM, and the Greater Boston Chapter of the ASSE.

GOing Forward

Since 2015, EHI has been registered with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Radiation Control Program, Reg. #65-0579, as a consultant supporting the biotechnology Industry. Michele has served as an elected member of the Westford Board of Health since 2010. 

Michele's accomplishments and talents bring expanding roles to EHI and it is our pleasure to welcome her and the BioSciences Group into our growing and diverse firm.
