EHI offers a broad range of services to commercial building owners, contractors and institutions. Sorry, we do not provide services for residential homes at this time. We have expertise in asbestos, lead paint, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, safety, indoor air quality, building science, Legionella, mold and worker training. Philip G. Terrell
Philip G. Terrell proudly leads the firm and is often found working directly with EHI's clients in the field. His dedication to service comes with over 40 years of industrial hygiene experience, providing advanced consultation and assistance to a variety of clientele across the United States. Phil is EHI's chief industrial hygienist currently holding his CIH and CSP certifications among others.
Phil is a graduate from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2009 with a Doctorate in Occupational Hygiene. Phil enjoys spending his free time boating, mountain biking, and traveling.

Michele P. Crawford
Michele is the Director of BioSciences for EHI specializing in all aspects of environmental and occupational health and safety program evaluation, development and management for clients in the life sciences and university research sectors. Michele was approved by the MDPH as a Consultant Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) including 40 hour Radiation Safety Officer certification and DOT Radioactive Materials Shipping training. She has over twenty years of experience in these fields.
Operations Manager, Industrial Hygienist
Ed Shea has been an integral team member of EHI since 1997 and is an active industrial hygienist, safety consultant and operations manager. While simultaneously handling job scheduling and environmental surveys in and out of the field, he is also providing our staff with critical development strategies in organization, project handling, and in other demands in our service. Ed is constantly working with clients in remediation, hazardous materials management and compliance consultation. Ed has over 20 years of safety experience acting as both an onsite safety officer and safety adviser. Ed is a Massachusetts-licensed asbestos inspector and asbestos project monitor.
Cathy is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and is among one of our chief consultants in our firm. She has been a professional consultant since 1974 and has worked in general industry, manufacturing, construction, excavation in contaminated soil as well as assessing indoor air quality in buildings having complaints.
David A. Knight
After completing his B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Biochemistry at Salem State, David got his start working at EHI in early 2016 as an asbestos project monitor and industrial hygienist. He now is a certified asbestos inspector and also specializes in mold and moisture assessments, waterborne pathogen testing, and construction safety. Before joining EHI, David has worked in various fields of environmental stewardship, landscape construction, and biochemistry research. Currently, David is working on completing his Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health and, while doing so, is pursuing his CIH license. David is often enjoying his free time golfing, hiking, backpacking, and playing guitar.
Jerry started as an intern with EHI in 2009. After earning a degree in Environmental Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Fitchburg State in 2011, he began his full-time work at EHI. Jerry carries certificates and/or MA state licenses for asbestos project monitoring, site inspection and X-Ray Florescence (XRF) lead paint inspections. After work hours, Jerry enjoys playing ice hockey and is in the process of earning his Master's degree in Work Environment.
Ian began working for EHI in 2016 after earning his Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Ian focuses on indoor air quality and mold survey consultation. He is also a licensed asbestos project monitor and inspector. He plans on obtaining his Master's degree in Environmental Engineering. At WPI, Ian was a member of the football team and is avid sports fan.
Zachary began at EHI in 2015 working with the BioSciences Group and transitioned his way into full-time industrial hygiene. Zack has been integral in compliance monitoring for silica and lead related projects and in asbestos project monitoring. He completed his bachelor's degree in Health Science from Northeastern University while working as a research assistant in oncology at Mass General Hospital. Since then, Zack has been accepted into medical school and begins his new adventure in the summer of 2018. When he is not seen actively in the field, he focuses on other activities such as weight training and golf.
